Jeffery, sorry for your loss.  Your uncle was a member of the National Association of the 10th Mountain Division.  In our 2010 directory it said that he was in the 86th Infantry, Company L.   Follow this link to read about the 86th Infantry in Italy.  http://10thmtndivassoc.org/86thhistory.pdf   You should think about joining our descendents group.  You can get an application on our web site.  If it is not asking to much, if you put an obituary in the local newspaper, I would like to give a copy of it to our newpaper editor for our "Taps" section to honor all our past veterans. Jeffery, was his first name Gareth or Greenleaf and he lived AZ?

Robert, I'm not sure what outfit but he was in the original group from WW 2 he served as a Mortar Man in the Italian Mountains. He was very modest and never bragged but I got him to tell a few war stories a couple of years ago. One night they were attacked by Germans and they fought them off at pistol range. He was the uncle of my wife Jane and just past away yesterday at 90.
